Home PageDoelman named Empire league MVP![]() The Empire B Junior Hockey League backed an opinion the Napanee Raiders held throughout the season, recently, as it named Colin Doelman the league's most valuable player. The overage forward from Ottawa led the league with 28 goals and 32 assists in 38 games. The feat is even more impressive given Doelman played most of his junior career as a defenceman before moving to centre in his final season. He was a major cog in the Raiders' overall game. "Colin was everything for us this season," said general manager Adam Bramburger. "He was our top scorer, he was our defensive shutdown guy, and he was our key face-off man. Even playing injured down the stretch, he showed a remarkably high level of precision." A take-charge competitor, Doelman was also a key leader in the Raiders dressing room the past two seasons after moving from the Ottawa Junior Canadians to study business at St. Lawrence College. His presence will be missed in future years. The second Raider to claim an Empire B scoring title and MVP honours in the past two years (following Dan Long), Doelman will now be the league's nominee for the Ontario Hockey Association Junior C player of the year honours. Two Napanee Raiders, Jason Sutton and Pete Sergeant, are past winners of the award.
